Annual Meeting
The Indianola Country Club Annual Business Meeting will be on
Sunday January 16th at 2 PM in the clubhouse. I hope all interested
members will attend. On the agenda are the annual financial report, a
report on the expansion finances, as well as the election results and
reports from the various Board committees.
Election Ballot
An election ballot is included in this newsletter. It must be
either returned to the clubhouse by 2 PM on the Sunday January 16th or
mailed so that it is received on or before Saturday January 15th.
The first item on the ballot is the approval of revised and amended
Articles of Incorporation for the club. This was suggested by our attorney
to get us up to date under current state law. The articles are brief by
design having only those elements required. Other provisions from our
current articles have been moved to a revised and amended version of the
By-Laws which the Board has approved. Significant changes the Board has
incorporated are making the terms for the Board members and the President
3 years to provide for more continuity, removing any Indianola residency
requirements for the board or President, and having the Vice President be
elected by the board from its membership yearly. There are appropriate
transitions for these changes. Click to view the
Articles and the
By-Laws. Copies are also
available from Jason in the clubhouse. The Board recommends approval.
If the new Articles of Incorporation are approved, they will take
effect immediately. For the four Board of Director positions elected, the
two with the highest vote totals will be elected for 3 year terms and the
remaining two for 2 year terms.
Board Actions
At the December meeting the Board took several actions likely to be
of interest to members:
Men's Day - The rule for Men's Day was made consistent with the
current Ladies Day rule. "On Thursday women and juniors may tee of until
12 noon and complete that 9 hole round." (To complete 18 they should be
off 10 tee by noon.) They should complete play by 2 PM or shortly
thereafter. The clubhouse is open to all until 3 PM.
Junior Golfers - The Board approved 2 changes to the junior golf
regulations. The older age group, who can play without an adult during
open junior golf times, was expanded from 16-17 to 14-17 year olds. The
Board felt that high school age golfers should be mature enough to do
this. Also, on weekends juniors can now only tee of after 11 AM (was 12
noon). The other junior rules remain unchanged.
Cart Sheds - The Board approved a $25 increase in the cart shed fee for
next year to $200. The trail fee for carts kept off course remains at
$150. This was done in part to offset a large increase in gas cost.
GHIN Handicaps - The club paid almost $5,000 ($12 per person) for
handicaps this year. A significant portion of those in the system recorded
fewer that 5 scores and many recorded none. The cost increases to
$15/person next year. The Board voted to charge members who want a
handicap the $15 cost for this service. All others clubs we contacted
charge for this service, some as much as $30. This spring all players in
the system will be made "inactive". If you want a GHIN handicap at the
club, all you will have to do is tell Jason to activate you and pay the
$15 fee. |
