Each candidate was also asked to submit a brief statement to introducing themselves and indicate why they are running for the position. Those statements are below:
CANDIDATE STATEMENT Robert Curtiss Robert Curtiss is a life long resident of Indianola, IA. He attended the Indianola Community Schools and served in the U.S. Army. After his military discharge he earned a college degree in Medical Technology and worked as a paramedic. Rob then served 20 years with the Des Moines Police Department where he attained multiple educational credentials. Rob was decorated four times for valor during his police career, received two service injury awards and one life saving award He is now retired due to an injury sustained in the line of duty. Rob, his wife, Rebecca and family, have been members of the Indianola Country Club for over 10 years. He has served on the board of directors as clubhouse chair and vice president for the last three years. He is very active in the club’s social and golf events. His goals for the Indianola Country Club are to keep the club affordable while providing the best golfing and social experiences in central Iowa. His life experience and his experience on the ICC Board of Directors make him a qualified candidate for President of the Indianola Country Club. Werner Kolln I have been a member since the fall of 1982. During the last 25 years I have served several terms on the Board of Directors and I am just completing my third term as President. I originally ran for President because I wanted to be involved with the transition of the club from a 9 hole to an 18 hole facility. Thanks in large part to our excellent professional staff, Joe and Jason, and very able decision making from members serving on the Board of Directors we have made a smooth transition to an 18 hole private club. I am running for a 4th term because I want to help continue improvements at the club. My goal is to grow the membership to the point where we have a waiting list by following the principles the Club has followed to make it a success: providing easy access to a good golf course with reasonable dues, providing food service and social opportunities at a level the membership will support, and making incremental improvements to the club in a cost effective manner. In real life I am the Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry and Physics at Simpson College. |

have been members here at the country club since 1994. I would like to

here. I golf with several different people at this country club and see
and here what people want changed and don't want changed and I think I
can somewhat help with that. My name is David Button. I am a special agent with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. My wife Teri works at Principal and we have lived in Indianola for twenty years. We have three children, Jake and Kasey, who are seniors, and Cole who is in the sixth grade. We joined ICC two years ago. During those two years, I’ve enjoyed meeting and golfing with a lot of members. I am interested in serving on the board because as a relatively new member to the club, I feel it is important to have a board member who can represent the views of the newer members while working with the established membership to ensure the club serves all of its members in the best fashion possible. BOARD OF DIRECTORS Cory Drees Hello my name is Cory
Drees. I have been a member of the golf course for 3 years now. Even
though I am not the greatest golfer on the course I do have a love for
the game. One of my loves of the game is a great course to play on. I
think for what we pay in dues we have one of the greatest values in
central Iowa. As a board member I will take pride in keeping the course
that way. My wife Laura and I are both Chiropractors in the community
and run our own business. With my background in running a successful
business and being on other boards in this community I can help the
greater good of the club My name is Darrin Johnson. My wife Michelle and I grew up in Indianola and recently moved back to town with our two children, Kaci (12) and Konner (9). We currently hold a family membership at the club and have enjoyed playing the course and getting to know fellow members. My wife is a freelance writer, working from home. I am a Territory Sales Manager for the Anderson's Golf Products. I manage the sale of fertilizer and chemicals to public and private golf courses in five states. I have been in the turf industry for more than 15 years and have served on a number of state and industry boards for turf management. The Indianola Country
Club is a vital part of the community. Its growth is essential to
helping Indianola thrive. I am excited to bring a new perspective to the
board and contribute to the club's growth and success in the future. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Cindy Morrison and my husband is Ed Morrison. We joined the Country Club approximately five years ago. I have lived in Indianola for the majority of my life, attending Indianola High School and graduating from Simpson College in 1986. I currently work as a Probation/Parole Officer with the Fifth Judicial District, Department of Correctional Services, writing Presentence Investigation reports for the Court. I have worked in corrections for the past 17 years. I have always taken pride in my work and know the importance of being firm, fair, and consistent. I believe I can take the experience I have gained in my profession and apply it with the same principles and consistency as a member of the Indianola Country Club Board. I believe we are all unique as individuals but share one thing in common and that is our passion for the game of golf. Whether your interest is in the social aspect or on a more competitive level, I believe it is important to keep both in mind when making decisions that impact how our club operates. My agenda for this board is not personal but, very simple. I would like to see us continue to make improvements regarding our golf course, club house, tournaments, family and social events. As a board member I would listen to ideas and respect the thoughts of others. I feel it is important to vote on items based on how it impacts us as a whole and not based on personal feelings. I believe I could do this and would like the opportunity to serve you as a representative on our board.
Roger Thompson I’ve been a member of ICC for 20 years. I am a two-term ICC board member, and have served a previous term as a trustee. I am currently Director of Marketing for the state of Iowa with Cameron Insurance Companies of Cameron, MO.
