Formal Opening of New "West Nine"
There will be a Ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 PM on Tuesday June 29th on #2 tee to formally open the west nine. All are welcome. After that time the west nine will be open daily. Also, as you may already know, carts may now use the 90 degree rule on the west nine except during wet weather when the cart path only signs are posted.

The "Links" Course Layout
Playing the course as a "links style" 18 hole course has been working out well. There is no wait between nines and it has been taking about 4 hours to play 18 holes on weekend mornings. To play the course links style players cross to the west side of Country Club Road after playing #1 and play holes 2-10 ( the new west nine). Players then come back across the road for holes 11-18 (current holes 2-9). Those wishing to play just the current "east nine" may "cross over" [go from hole 1 to hole 11(current hole 2)] under certain conditions. Those conditions are:
     1) 18 hole players, those coming from hole 10 to 11 have the right of way. If you want to "cross over" and you can see someone on 10 green or on the cart path going from 10 green to 11 tee you are not allowed to cross over. This does NOT mean you alternate in. If there is steady play, you may not be able to "cross over".
     2) It is strongly recommended that players crossing over play the upper tee, which means use the gold or red tees. This is to help make sure that players crossing over will be out of range before a group playing the "links" layout gets to the tee.
     3) You should not expect to be able to crossover on Thursday afternoon or on weekends until late in the afternoon because play is usually steady during those times.
This cross over option allows players trying to get in a quick nine or just a few holes a convenient option. If everyone signs in it helps players starting out know if crossover may be possible. They can check for groups starting about 2 hours earlier. This crossover option has been working so far and should continue to work if everyone uses common sense. If there are problems this option may have to be eliminated.
The one exception to playing the course links style is on Tuesdays. All day on Tuesdays, the course is played with the current east nine as the front nine and the west nine as the back nine. There is an "East-West" scorecard to use on Tuesdays. This allows us to make better use of the course during junior golf time and during Tuesday Night League. With two nines to tee off on, the course is more open to regular play on Tuesday nights. There has been only a short wait on the tees while league players are teeing off. The problem with this arrangement is the difficulty of going out and back to the "west nine". Players going out and back via the #1 cart path need to be careful not to interfere with those playing #1. If you are playing #1 on Tuesdays, be aware that players may be going to or from the west nine and do not hit if they are in range.

The schedule for how the course will be played each day is as follows:

Mondays - One nine closed in the morning for maintenance, then played links style with "crossover"
Tuesdays - course played with east nine as front nine and west nine as back nine.
Wednesdays - course played links style with "crossover".
Thursdays - course played links style with "crossover".
Fridays - course played links style with "crossover".
Saturdays - course played links style with "crossover". NOTE: Couples 2-Ball may shotgun start at 6 pm on the east or west nine. If you tee off after 2 pm be aware that this may interrupt the completion of your round. Signs will be posted. If you want to play more when 2-Ball starts, the other nine will be open.
Sundays - course played links style with "crossover".

"Build a House" Campaign Update
The sale of memorial bricks for the "Build a House" Campaign is going well with over $5,000 received so far. There was an additional $1,000 raised by the Spring Fling Dance and two members have committed $5,000 each to the project through the member loan program. Bricks are available for $100. If you are planning to purchase a brick and have not yet done so please do so soon. It would be ideal if enough money were raised so this project could be completed this fall while the ground is firm to minimize any damage to the course.

Junior Golf
On Tuesday July 6th, and Tuesday July 13th the junior golfers will be using the east nine in the morning. The east nine will be closed to regular play until the juniors are finished. This should be about 11 AM. The west nine will be open for regular play.
