Hosting events like this is good public relations for our course. There were many positive comments from visitors about the course and the tournament. Thanks to Joe Burke and his staff who worked extra hours on Sunday to get the course in great shape for the tournament. Thanks also to Head Pro Jason Marvelli and Brad Bunting for tournament administration and to the many members who helped out to make the event a success.
We will host a limited number of events like this in the future, both to do our civic duty for the golf community and to provide our local teams with an occasional home course advantage.

Restroom/Shelter Update

Construction of the restroom/shelter on the west nine should begin any day now. The total cost is about $25,000. The 2004 Spring Fling raised about $1000 for this project and over $8,000 has been raised from the sale of Memorial Bricks to be used in a walkway/patio by the structure. If you have not yet purchased your brick, now is the time. The cost is $100 per brick. Forms for this purpose and sample bricks are available in the clubhouse. The member loan fund will be used to pay for the balance of the project.

Spring Fling Thanks

Thanks to the 2005 Spring Fling Committee of Roger & Teri Cooper, Steve & Jerri Hoover, Dennis & Melissa Hosey, Art & Corina Hickman, Dick & Karen Mathews and Jon & Shirley Schuttinga for hosting another successful event. Special thanks to Steve & Jerri Hoover for again serving as Chairpersons for this event. Our club is member run with the support of our manager and staff. Successful events like the Spring Fling depend on member support. If you have an idea for an event that you would be willing to work on let us know.

Membership Drive Continues

The Board has voted to continue to offer the $250 initiation fee special until we reach our current membership limit of 325. There are only about 10 memberships left so if you have friends thinking about joining, let them know this. Once we reach 325 the board will evaluate course access and decide if additional memberships should be added. If so, the normal $500 initiation fee will apply. We will continue to give members who recruit a new member $50 in club bucks until we reach the 325 limit. The drawing for the one month of free dues for one of the new member recruiters will occur the first week in June.

Membership Changes

Welcome new members Bret Christian, Steve & Joann Haberlin, and James DeMatteis. Welcome back Helen Shannon as a social member. We have received a resignation from Jeff & Gayle Onstot. We now have 312 golf and 12 social memberships.

Reminders:

By-Law Change - The board has approved a change in the by-laws to allow children who have been under a family membership to join the club with no initiation fee provided they do so within three months of when they become ineligible to remain on the family membership due to graduation etc. If you have any children graduating this spring, I hope they will take advantage of this opportunity.

Junior golf will start on June 14th . Advanced sign-up is required so please sign-up ASAP so that the juniors can be divided into approximately equal size groups by age. If you have questions call Jason Marvelli at 961-3303.

Couples 2-Ball Events - Since we now have 18 holes, the nine not being used by 2-Ball is open for others to play. In a clarification of the junior golf rules, junior golfers can also play on this other nine with the usual weekend adult supervision requirement for those 13 and under.

Tuesday Night Golf - We want to make it clear that the COURSE IS OPEN TO OTHERS on Tuesday nights, although the first and 10th tees will typically be crowded from about 4:30 PM until about 5:45 PM.
