Pro's Corner

Indianola Country Club has recently been approved to be a Ping Golf Retailer.  This is wonderful news for our club.  We now have the ability to custom fit you when you order a set of Ping irons.  As the custom fitting pioneer, Ping is committed to increasing awareness for this important step in helping golfers play their best.  Research shows custom fitting continues to grow as a major factor in the club buying process.  For golfers, a properly fit set of clubs means improved performance.  Ping is the fitting leader in the industry at 52% with the next closest club fitter at 15%. Irrigation System Financing

The first project that will be undertaken using the new capital improvement fee is the renovation of the watering system on the "old nine".  This project will be done this year, possibly this spring.  The club is asking those who gave the club member loans as part of the financing package for the nine hole expansion to allow their member loan funds to be used for the watering system project to minimize borrowing cost.  The member loan fund would then be repaid using about one-half of the capital improvement fee with the balance available for other projects.  If you have a member loan, please return the form sent out as soon as possible so financing can be set for this project.  We are also offering others the opportunity to participate in the member loan program.  For a loan to the club of $5,000 through December 31, 2016 the member will receive a $20 per month dues reduction (a 4.8% return).  If you would like to help out your club by participating in this program, let Werner or Jason know.

Women’s League Registration

Registration for Women’s Golf League will run from March 7 (the business meeting) until May 1, 2007.  You may register using the form below, or in the women’s locker room.  If you want to be a substitute for league, please use the same form to sign up before May 1.

Regular league play will begin May 16, 2007.  The length of the season will depend on how many teams we have but will finish no later than Sept. 12th.  League awards will be handed out at the September Stagette.

Clubhouse to be Nonsmoking

At the February Board of Directors Meeting the board voted UNANIMOUSLY to make the entire clubhouse nonsmoking starting May 1, 2007.  The board felt that it was best to take this action now for the health of our members and employees, before being forced by the state or city to do so.

New Board Member

The board appointed Jim Thorius to fill the remaining 2 years of Darren Heater's term on the board.  Darren had resigned from the board due to extensive travel required in a new job.

American Cancer Society Charity Golf Outing - Organizational Meeting

The club will host a charity golf outing for the American Cancer Society in August (date to be determined).  Volunteers are needed to help and serve as chairs of the various committees.  If you are interested, please attend the organizational meeting at 6pm on Tuesday March 6th in the clubhouse.  Contact Rochelle Stout, 981-0609, if you have questions.

Reminder of Dues and Cart Shed Increases

Remember that the Board has increased golf dues by $5 per month and instituted a capital improvement fee of $10 per month for each golf membership.  These increases take effect April 1, 2007 and will be reflected in your second quarter statements.  The yearly golf cart storage was increased to $230.  A summary of these fees is shown below:

Course Opening

The course typically opens in early to mid March depending on the weather.  The clubhouse will be open normal winter hours until the course opens.  At that time the clubhouse will be open additional hours depending on the weather.

Initiation Fee Still $400

Remember that the initiation fee will remain at 20% off or $400 until April 1st.   Our best source of new members is you, the current members.  This offer will not last forever.   Let any friends and acquaintances who play golf know about this good deal.  Remember that you will get $50 in clubhouse bucks for each new member you can recruit plus a chance at 50% off one quarter's dues.

We have received a resignation from Doug Burchett.  We now have 328 golf and 12 social memberships.
