MARCH 2009 INDIANOLA COUNTRY CLUB NEWSLETTER

Presidents Message
This spring is a very important time for our club.  The economy has had an effect on our membership and we are down about 10 memberships from last year.  We are currently in good financial condition, but our 2009 budget assumes we can recruit at least 20 new members this spring.  This will be a challenge.  However, the new dues structure and the new member special provide us with an opportunity to have a great year.  The lower dues for younger members, both single and family, will make the club attractive to an age group where we have only a few current members.  Recruiting a significant number of younger members will be great for the clubs future.  The new member special with two years of discounted dues has generated a good deal of interest in club memberships, but we need your help in recruiting new members.  If only 10% of us recruited one new member we would meet our new membership goal and have a good year.  As an incentive, you can save $150 on your dues next winter for each new member you recruit. The details of the New Member Special can be found at http://www.indianolacountryclub.com/prospectivemembers.html.  If you know of a potential new member, Jason would be happy to send them information about the club and our membership special.  Just email or call him with the contact information. (iccpgapro@hotmail.com or 961-3303) Thanks for your help.

Kitchen to Re-Open with Lunch Special
The kitchen will re-open on Thursday March 12th after being closed for two weeks for improvements.  To welcome back our loyal lunch crowd and hopefully to entice some additional members to check the club out for lunch there will be a buy one and get one free special from Thursday March 12th – Saturday March 14th. Try the club out for lunch with your colleagues at work on Thursday or Friday or with the family on Saturday.  It is one of the best deals in town.

O’Hosey St. Patrick’s Day Party Date Changed
The O’Hosey St. Patrick’s Day Party has been moved from Saturday March 14th to Friday March 20th at 5:30 PM.  Come on out to the club and celebrate.  All are welcome.

Tuesday Morning Men's Golf League
As stated in earlier Newsletters there has been some interest in starting a Tuesday Morning Men's League for those of you who would like to play in the morning vs. the evening.  Some of you may be retired or some of you may have the flexibility to play every Tuesday morning.  We will operate this league very similar to the way the evening league is played, two player teams.  Each team will play another two person team each week in a match play format.  It will be difficult to assign and start and end date until we have everyone interested in playing signed up.  I don't foresee this league beginning as early or running as late as the evening league.  Please email Jason at iccpgapro@hotmail.com ASAP if you have any interest in participating in this morning league.  If you are not able to e mail Jason, please call him at the Club, 961.3303.

New Dues Structure and Heritage Memberships
Last month when the new dues structure was published in the newsletter, Heritage Memberships were inadvertently left out.  We apologize for that.  The Board voted specifically to continue those memberships as part of the new dues structure.  To be eligible for a Heritage Membership you must be at least 65 years of age and your age plus current consecutive years of membership must be at least 90.  Heritage Members receive a $20/month discount on the Full Family or Full Single dues rate.  As approved by the board, the new membership fees for current members as of April 1, 2009 will be:

Men’s Association News
Hi. This is Rob Curtiss, President of the Men’s Association for 2009. Ron Bright is the new Secretary/Treasurer. We would like to extend an invitation to all the men of ICC to our Spring Meeting on March 28, 2009 at the club at 1:00 PM. Keg Beer and Munchies will be provided. The agenda will be posted at the club the week prior to the meeting. We will be discussing the upcoming golf season and our planned activities as an association. For those of you who don’t know, the ICC Men’s Association purpose is to raise money through membership and special events to assist the Indianola Country Club with special projects, not covered in the club’s annual budget that will improve the golfing experience for all members.
This meeting is open to all current members as well as anyone who would like to join the Association. One of our biggest goals this year is to increase our membership to include all the men of ICC, not just golf league players so we can help make our club the best it can be. See you all on March 28.

Course Opening
The course typically opens in mid to late March.  The clubhouse will be open normal winter hours until the course opens.  At that time the clubhouse will be open additional hours depending on the weather. Let’s hope we get on the golf course before the next newsletter.

Membership Changes
We have received resignations from Bruce & Chris Wilson, Tom Thomas and William A. Thomas.  Welcome new golf members Bruce & Linda Gaarder. We now have 308 golf and 17 social memberships. We had 320 golf memberships at this time last year.

Automatic Dues Payment

You now have the option to have your monthly or quarterly dues automatically deducted from your bank account.  [click here for a printable form]  Be sure to include a voided check with your form.

MEMBER INFORMATION UPDATE FORM
We are asking that ALL members complete this form so that we can get a complete age profile of our membership.  Members in the intermediate and junior categories (35 & under) will need to complete this form to receive the new dues rates.  For others, the board may consider senior or super senior rates over the next few year and this information will help the board as they discuss the possibility.  Thanks for your help.
