Tournament Results

Congratulations to the winners of the October tournaments. In the Club Ryder Cup Jeff Raymond & Vickie Anderson were the winners in the Mixed Division with a 106. In the Men's Division Kyle Matzen & Matt Jones defeated Alan Anderson & Nate Ohnemus in a sudden death playoff after they tied at 6 under par 101. In the Men's Association Flag Tournament, Duane Isley came in first followed by Jeff Raymond in second. Special congratulations to our pro Jason Marvelli and superintendent Joe Burke who won the Iowa PGA Section Pro-Superintendent Pro-Am at the Legacy Golf Club. They shot a 10 under 62 defeating 40 other golf pros and superintendents from across Iowa and Western Illinois. For complete results you can visit www.iowapga.com

Late Fall Golf

Joe will keep the course open as long as the good weather holds. The clubhouse will open at 10 am on weekdays and 8:00 am on weekends while the course is open and the weather is OK for golf. When the course closes or the weather is unsuitable for golf we will be on winter hours. When playing in the mornings please be alert to frost and stay off the course until you are sure all the frost is gone. Walking or driving on frost will damage the grass. Also, as the grass stops growing we may move to cart path only to protect the turf. Watch for the signs. There should be some nice warm fall days left so enjoy some fall golf when you can.

Friday Lunches

There will be a number of Fridays in the next month or so when we will not have a cook available to cook lunch from the menu. The Rotary meal will be available for members who would like lunch on those days. Cost is $7.00. The days and menu are:
*Nov 11th - French Dip, Garden Salad, Fries, Dessert
*Nov 18th - Blue Ribbon Beef Patty with Mushroom Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Corn,
                 Dinner Roll, Dessert
*Dec. 2nd - menu to be determined

High School Golf Thanks

The Indianola High School golfers want to thank the members for the use of the course this season. Having the Country Club available for practice and meets is a plus for the program.

New Years Eve Party

It’s not too early to start planning for the Club New Years Eve Party. Our band will be the fabulous Good Time Oldies Band. They were a big hit at the 2003 party so mark it on your calendar to attend this year. The event will be chaired by Dwight and Mary Freitag so you can be sure it will be a fun evening. Watch future newsletters for more details.

Nominations Wanted

Country Club elections will be coming up at the end of the year. Nominations are needed for one Board of Trustee position and 4 Board of Directors positions. I know that there are many of you out there who have the abilities to make a contribution to your club. The Nominations Committee is the outgoing members of the Board, Paul Breuklander, Ken Birkenholtz, Joe Blake, Susan Westra, and Dick Mathews. Please let them or someone on the board know if you are interested in running. .

Membership Changes

Welcome new members Dennis & Joyce Paulsen, Steve & Terri Akes, Michael & Jo Ann Lloyd, Randy & Becky Kraft, David & Teri Button, Tom & Margene Kennedy, and James & Lacy Clawson. We have received resignations from Alan & Chris Boone, Gerald Miller, John & Jerilee Mace, and Sam & Doris Long. We now have 319 golf and 11 social memberships. Our membership was 302 at this time last year, so we are having a good year.

Membership Special

The Membership Special is still in effect so if you know someone who is thinking of joining you can pick up information and an application in the clubhouse or call the club and have the information sent out. The special is: new members joining now will pay a reduced initiation fee of only $250, can begin playing immediately after approval and pay no monthly dues until March 2006. They must remain members and pay dues for at least 1 year. The sponsoring member receives $50 in club bucks.

Reminders:

* All Country Club Bucks will expire at the end of the year. Please make sure to use yours on or before December 31, 2005.
