For a complete listing of September club activities see the schedule at the end of this newsletter. Check postings in the clubhouse for updates.

IHS Boys Golf

The Indianola High School boys golf team is playing and practicing on the course again this fall. Most of the players on the team are members. The varsity, JV, or 9th & 10th grade squads have 5 matches at the club in September. They typically will occupy the 1st tee of one of the nines for about 45 minutes starting at 3:30 pm. The other nine is always available for play. The varsity will also host the CIML Central Invitational on Monday morning September 26th. The 1st tee will be closed for about 2 hours for this event.

Year End 2 Ball

Don't miss the final 2-Ball of the year on Saturday September 10th hosted by the Hoovers and the Burchetts. This is traditionally a big FUN event. With the sun setting earlier in September, the start time has been moved up to 4:00 PM. Look for details in the clubhouse.

Indianola Community Foundation Fundraiser

This event was moved from June to Monday September 12th at noon. The course will be closed until the completion of this event.

Ladies Day Stagette

The first Ladies Day Stagette of the fall is on Wednesday September 21st. This is a change from the calendar which had it listed for the 14th. Sign up in the clubhouse or call 961-3303.

Board Meeting Change

For your information the September Board of directors meeting has been moved to Tuesday September 20th at 7 PM due to scheduling conflicts.

Nongolfers on the Course

With an increasing number of persons using the cart path as a recreational trail the Board has come up with the following policy. Biking or rollerblading are not allowed at any time. Members who wish to walk or jog may do so ONLY when golfers are not present.

Halloween Dance

Mark your calendar and start planning your costume now for the Club Halloween Dance to be held on October 29. Our band will be 'The Legal Limit', which includes our very own Rob Curtis as one of its members. The event will be co-chaired by the Polsons and the Browns and they tell us many fun surprises are in store. Watch next month’s newsletter for more details.

New Member Special

In an effort to continue to attract new members as the season winds down, the Board has approved the following special for new golf members which will be in effect until further notice. The initiation fee is reduced by 50% to $250. New members can skip dues payments during the 4 winter months of November 2005 - February 2006. In effect we are trying to get new members to join now instead of waiting until spring by letting them skip dues payments during the nongolfing winter months. Members who recruit a new member will get $50 in club bucks so if you have friends who were thinking of joining, now is the time. Last year the course did not close until early December and reopened in the middle of February so this is a great deal for anyone who likes to golf.

Membership Changes
We have received resignations from Lou Jean Martins, Bob & Tammy Vogel, and Tom & Deb Downs. Welcome new members Ross Knobloch, Kenneth & Joan Phillips and Joe & Michelle Minnehan. We now have 316 golf and 12 social memberships.

Reminders:

All Country Club Bucks will expire at the end of the year. Please make sure to use yours on or before December 31, 2005.

Juniors and Carts - Just a reminder that you must be at least 16 years of age and have a valid drivers license to operate a golf cart on the course.

One More "Last Chance" for Memorial Bricks - With construction nearing completion on the Restroom/Shelter on the west nine, time is running out to get your "memorial brick" to help with funding the construction. Information on how to get your brick for only $100 is in the clubhouse.

Juniors on Weekends - Remember that on weekends, Juniors 17 & under can't tee off before 11:00am. This is true even when playing with an adult.
